Hike description
The mission site is located on the heights of Papeete.
To access it, drive to the end of the Pureora street,
which is an extension of Putiaoro Street.
You will see a metal chain there, it is the beginning of the trail.
Follow the path for about 15min to reach the cross of the mission,
and admire the beautiful panorama over Papeete and Moorea that you can see on your left.
On your right, you will see the Venus Point, and even the Tetiaroa Atoll on a clear day.
Continue on the path to descend into the forest.
You arrive at a junction, which allows you to take the large loop on the right,
and go up to the mission chapel on the left (small loop).
Note that there is also a path to the big loop trail from the chapel.
Follow the path until you reach the end of the small loop.
This is where the ascent of the large loop begins, which will take you to the heights,
outside the forest.
After about 30min of climbing, you arrive at a point of view just next to a dead tree.
Continue the ascent to the ridge and enjoy the view over the two valleys.
Make a U-turn to go back down until you reach the route of the small loop.
From there, the return trip is via the other side of the mountain, which descends steadily.
Then go up to get back to the cross, then go back down to finish.
