Hike description
The Te-Ara-Hiti-Ni'a trail is accessible directly from the Taputapuatea marae site,
in the south-east of Raiatea. This new trail was inaugurated in July 2019.
The start of the trail is not very well marked.
It is located on the mountain side, just in front of the sign indicating the Atiapiti hotel.
Climb up the path, which alternates between stairs and wooden walkways.
After about 300m, you can take left path, which brings you to a first viewpoint.
Return to the main path, and continue your ascent, until you reach a wooden platform.
Incredible view of the marae below, the lagoon and Huahine island in the background.
Continue on the trail and reach the final viewpoint after a final switchback.
Breathtaking view over the entire lagoon, and the neighbouring islands of Tahaa and Huahine.
